A winter tour in the Beaujolais vineyard
Once the third Thursday of November has passed, Beaujolais gets its true face back: granite hills, ten crus that have nothing to do with the new wine, and winemakers who finally have time to welcome you.
Four hours are enough to see it for yourself.
Mulled wine at Jacky's, a Beaujolais winemaker
The morning starts at Jacky Grolet's, a local winemaker and collector of vintage motorbikes, around a mulled wine. Both passions share the same shed, and he talks about both with the same precision.
Estate visit and tasting, against the clichés
Second stop at one of the region's rising estates, the kind that works against the reputation of Beaujolais: age-worthy gamays, single-plot wines, wines you would not expect to find here.
The outing ends with a traditional mâchon: charcuterie, cheeses, a glass of wine.
A private tour, the Insiders way
A local Insider who knows the region and its best addresses by heart, a vintage Range Rover just for you, and nobody at the wheel but him.

Frequently asked questions
When is this tour available?
It is an autumn and winter outing: the calendar only opens for that season. The rest of the year, Beaujolais can be explored with our half-day or full-day tours.
What is a mâchon?
A Lyonnais morning snack: charcuterie, cheeses, a glass of wine. It was the silk workers' meal before the working day, and it has remained an institution in the region.
Is it suitable if I know nothing about wine?
Yes. Your Insider adapts the level: you can spend the morning talking granite and winemaking, or simply drink good things while listening to stories.
